PS3 audio ouput format?
I just got a Dolby\Dts decoder for my PS3,
It connects my PS3 with optical fiber.
the optical fiber ouput is set to be bistream.
So here is my question.
I know the PS3 can not output Dolby-hd or DTS-hd by optical fiber, so I only choose ordinary Dolby or DTS on the disk to play the video.
Because there is no display panel on the decoder,
I have no idea what kind of signal is transmitted to the decoder.
When I play DVD or BD, I check the PS3, it shows Dolby Mulyi-Channels or DTS Multi-channels. What does that means???? (I already set output to be bitstream)
I can hear the sound from each speaker, but I am not sure it is original Dolby 5.1 or it is just simulated sound from LPCM by my decoder( the decoder has dolby prologic)
the other question is when I play video from harddisk, the PS3 shows Dolby digital-5.1ch xxhz xxxkbps, what does this mean? means really dolby 5.1 is playing now?
I just wanna know what kind of sound I hear in each situation!

well in my a/v receiver it says was is being played (dts, dolby etc.)
but its optical fiber like urs. the the display of the receiver it should say it somewhere wat is being produced. and yes if you press select and it says dolby 5.1 it is playing dolby 5.1
